WORLDWIDE PROTEST AGAINST CHINA’S ILLEGAL OCCUPATION OF TIBET

St. Paul, MN - Tibetans and supporters all over the world commemorate the 48th anniversary of Tibet’s National Uprising Day. On this day, we honor and remember the sacrifices of many thousands of Tibetans who rose up against the Chinese invasion and illegal occupation. The Tibetan resistance was brutally crushed by the Chinese killing more than 87 000 Tibetans.

During China’s close to half a century of illegal occupation of Tibet:

Over 1.2 million Tibetans died through massacre, torture, starvation etc.,
Over 6200 monasteries were destroyed,
Reduced Tibetan population from approximately 6 million in 1959 to 4.6 million at present through forced abortion and sterilization of Tibetans and
Engaged in illegal demographic invasion through population transfer into Tibet - The Chinese population has risen to 7.5 million from hardly any before 1959.

China, one of the five permanent members wielding veto-power at the United Nations, continues to persecute Tibetans in Tibet and violate basic human rights with impunity.
The 11th Panchen Lama, Gendun Choekyi Nyima, was abducted by China in May 1995. He was only six-years old then.

Name: Gendun Choekyi Nyima
Status: The 11th Panchen Lama of Tibet, the second highest spiritual leader.
Date of Birth: April 25, 1989
Nationality: Tibetan
Date of Abduction: May 15, 1995; only 6 years old.
Abducted by: The Government of China.
Current Condition: Unknown since he is being held incommunicado by the Government of China since May 15, 1995.

Both European Parliament’s resolution of November 15, 2002, and United States Senate Resolution (S. RES. 252) of April 25, 2002, demanded China to release the 11th Panchen Lama.. But China, as always, keeps on violating international laws and persecute Tibetans in their homeland Tibet.

About few months back, Chinese border police shot Tibetans “like dogs” at Nangpa La pass. They were about 75 Tibetans including many children and they were trying to flee into exile from Chinese persecution in Tibet. We can clearly see two of them fall as caught on video by a western mountaineer who happened to be close to the incident. Unarmed hapless Tibetans are shot by Chinese border police, and China explained that the border police shot in self defense in spite of contrary irrefutable proof caught on video by an independent mountaineer. China keeps on lying at the United Nations and around the globe, and Tibetans keeps on getting tortured, persecuted and killed by the brutal foreign regime of Chinese.

We appeal to the human in every freedom and peace loving people of the world to bring an end to this half a century of horrendous crime against mankind perpetrated by China, a veto-wielding member of the United Nations. Please communicate with your state and federal representatives to help bring these heinous crimes to an end.
